Visit "We Have To Go Out" - The story of the Eagle Harbor and Portage Lifesaving Stations, an exhibit created by the KCHS and now on display at the Carnegie Museum in Houghton through May, 2012.

All of the Keweenaw County Historical Society sites and museums are closed for the 2011 season. Thank you for your visits and support. Check this site in the spring of 2012 for the announcement of the opening dates for the 2012 season.

Over 2,000 people attended the Keweenaw County Sesquicentennial Parade in Mohawk on July 24, 2010. Click this link to see a sample of some of the images from the parade.

Rental Cottage

Welcome to the Assistant Lighthouse Keeper’s Home.

Check in time is 3:00 PM.        Check out time is 12:00 Noon

Please, LOCAL CALLS ONLY (289 & 337), using the cottage phone. The phone also rings in the Lighthouse Museum. During the hours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, volunteers may answer the phone in the Museum while   they are on duty.

As members of the Keweenaw County Historical Society, Museums are free  for you to visit.

 Please dispose of your trash at the Eagle Harbor Transfer Station located ½  mile up the Eagle Harbor Road just outside of town on the right. Tell the person on duty that you are from the Lighthouse Cottage. If the gate is closed, trash can be walked in and thrown into the dumpster. Attended hours of operation are as follows:
Saturday         9:00AM to 12:00 Noon
Sunday               3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Wednesday  10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon

If you have an unpaid balance for your rent, please use the envelope provided, enclose your check, and give the envelope to the volunteer on duty at the Lighthouse Museum.

When you leave, please return the key to the hook over the stove and leave the door unlocked.
