The Miner's Home

The Miner's Home

Keweenaw County Historical Society MEMBERSHIP offers opportunities to stay in an historic Keweenaw County building.

Step back in time and discover where the term "homey" came from.
Except for a few minor alterations to provide modern amenities, this house is a perfect example of an early industrial age workingman's home. Located in historic Central, there is plenty to do and explore here. A stay in the Miner's Home is the next best thing to a time machine to experience our local history.

New this season!
The gift shop now has thimbleberry jam from locally picked berries. All proceeds go toward preserving our historical treasures.

Taste a bit of Keweenaw  History.
Berry picking has always been a way of life here. Locals and visitors have long enjoyed our unique natural bounty.

If you can't make it here for berry season, you can visit us vicariously through our newsletter "Superior Signal", another unique bounty of stories and anecdotes from past  news stories and memories.
